Lake Sundown is located just 5 miles east of Moravia, Iowa and is an EASY 90-minute drive from Des Moines or 2-hours from Iowa City. Lake Sun Down is truly one of Iowa's nicest, cleanest, hidden treasure private lakes!

Lake Sundown was originally constructed in the 1970’s, Sundown Lake has been become one of Southern Iowa’s most picturesque outdoor recreation areas. After several early business ventures, successful development into private housing at Sundown began in 2005. The lake community consists of over 12 miles of private roads and seven miles of private shoreline, with roughly 360 lots having access to the private lake.  Several amenities have been constructed to help landowners and their guests utilize the lake including a bath/shower house park areas and a private swimming beach.

The land and terrain around Sundown Lake is beautiful and offers guests a view of mixture of mature hardwood forests and rolling meadows that provide excellent wildlife habitat.
